Inaugural Alumni Conference

All alumni under the various Australian Government scholarship programs (Australian Development Scholarships, Australian Leadership Awards, Endeavour Awards, Columbo Plan etc.) are invited to register to take part in the Inaugural Alumni Conference.

The conference will take place on Saturday 14 November 2009 at the Novotel Vientiane from 8.30am to 3:00pm. AusAID and the Scholarships Office have organised a team of advisers who will conduct a series of activities to assist Alumni to prepare for the establishment of an Alumni Association.

This is an exciting opportunity for Alumni to have a stake in moving forward, so we urge you to come along to the conference.

Alumni Focus Group meeting

Lao-Australian Scholarships Alumni Focus Group was held Monday 31 August at Vientiane College was chaired by the newly appointed Director, scholarships section, AusAID, Mr Michael Hassett. Mr Hassett asked the focus group to consider the benefits of short-term study or professional development in Australia.

26 Lao-Australian Scholarships Alumni provided Mr. Hassett with a selection of valuable suggestions on the proposed model. Mr. Hassett will combine the comments with input from other countries in the region with a view to developing the concept further

Australian Education Update

Endeavour Awards for Year 2010 open for application
.
The prestigious “Endeavour Awards” is the Australian Government’s internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program enabling citizens of Lao PDR as well as the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas to undertake study, research or professional development in Australia. The awards are also available for Australians to do the same abroad. The awards aim to develop on-going education, research and professional linkages between individuals, organisations and countries as well as provide opportunities for high achieving individuals to increase their skills and enhance their global awareness in Australia where education and training are of high quality. Application for commencement in Year 2010 is now open.

Awards available for international applicants are:

* Endeavour Research Fellowships
* Endeavour Vocational Education and Training Awards
